Winter Fishing Report

Winter is here and fishing in North Carolina around Emerald Isle and Swansboro is "On Point" right now.

We have been mainly targeting Redfish on the flats, this can be some exciting sight fishing this time of year.  The water is crystal clear and the fish are schooled up on the flats.

On most days the Speckled Trout fishing has been excellent as well, the warmer afternoons have been producing the most fish as they come to the shallows and feed aggressively.

Some of the deeper mainland creeks have been producing both Red and Black drum. These fish are being caught on carolina rigs fished with shrimp.

Winter Black Sea Bass fishing is also excellent within a few miles of Bogue Inlet right now as well!  There are some nice Grouper mixed in with the Sea Bass but they are catch and release only until May.

Give me a call to get out and do some Winter fishing. Winter days can be some of the best fishing of the year!

We are also selling Gift Certificates, these make the perfect gift for any occasion!

Give me a call at (252) 670-4523 or email onpointfishingcharters@gmail.com to book your trip!

Late Summer Fishing 2018

Fishing has been fantastic here in the Swansboro and Emerald Isle areas for the month of August and early September!  We have been catching Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Speckled Trout, Red Drum, Flounder, Grey Trout, Grouper, Sea Bass, Mahi Mahi and much more!!  We are starting to see some cooler weather which means Fall fishing is right around the corner.  Speckled Trout  and King Mackerel fishing is only going to get better as the water cools!  The Redfish will start to stack up in the surf zones over the next few weeks.  Fall is my favorite time of year to fish.  You don't want to miss out on this action.

We have also been fishing for Giant Trophy Redfish in the Neuse River on both artificial lures and dead baits.  This is the time of year to catch a Redfish of a lifetime!! These fish have all been ranging from 25-50lbs!  Fishing for Giant Trophy Redfish on the Neuse River with Popping Corks is a absolute adrenaline rush.  You have got to experience the fight of one of the massive Redfish atleast once in your lifetime!!!

June 18 Report

Fishing in the coastal waters around Emerald Isle and Swansboro has been excellent so far for the months of May and June!!

We have been catching fish from the ocean to the internal waters around Emerald Isle and Swansboro recently.

The Red Drum bite has remained excellent over the last few weeks landing double digits on the Redfish in just a few hours of fishing. Most of these fish are falling for live mullet and cut menhaden fished on carolina rigs but we have been catching plenty on Gulp baits on the Fathom Inshore jig heads when the wind is not blowing.  There has been a decent number of Flounder mixed in with the Red Drum and they have been mainly falling for the same Gulp baits fished on Fathom jig heads.

The Sheepshead bite has been great under the local bridges and docks! These fish have been eating fiddler crabs fished right next to bridge and dock pilings on light carolina rigs.

The Ocean has had a lot to offer here recently from King and Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Flounder, Sea Bass, Amberjack, and the occasional Mahi within 10 miles of the inlet. The majority of these fish have been falling for live menhaden either fished on the surface or on the bottom.

This summer has been great fishing so far. Give me a call to book your Emerald Isle Fishing Charter or Swansboro Fishing Charters!!

April 2018 Report

With the warming temperatures the fish are chewing in the inshore and nearshore waters around Emerald Isle and Swansboro!

Sight fishing for Redfish continues to be excellent here in the back waters of Swansboro and Emerald Isle! We have been catching Hatteras (Chopper) Bluefish as well while fishing for Red Drum and Speckled Trout.

The annual spring migration of the Atlantic Bonito has started, these delicious fish will only be here for another week or two!  These fish can be caught sight casting to schools of breaking fish as well as trolling for them.

We have also been fishing the Neuse River some, it is possible to catch anything there from Stripers, Flounder, Redfish, Large Mouth Bass, Speckled Trout and more!!

The Cobia should be showing up any day now with the water temperatures warming up  and right behind them should be Amberjack, Spanish Mackerel, more Flounder, Sheepshead and too many more species to name.
