June 18 Report

Fishing in the coastal waters around Emerald Isle and Swansboro has been excellent so far for the months of May and June!!

We have been catching fish from the ocean to the internal waters around Emerald Isle and Swansboro recently.

The Red Drum bite has remained excellent over the last few weeks landing double digits on the Redfish in just a few hours of fishing. Most of these fish are falling for live mullet and cut menhaden fished on carolina rigs but we have been catching plenty on Gulp baits on the Fathom Inshore jig heads when the wind is not blowing.  There has been a decent number of Flounder mixed in with the Red Drum and they have been mainly falling for the same Gulp baits fished on Fathom jig heads.

The Sheepshead bite has been great under the local bridges and docks! These fish have been eating fiddler crabs fished right next to bridge and dock pilings on light carolina rigs.

The Ocean has had a lot to offer here recently from King and Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Flounder, Sea Bass, Amberjack, and the occasional Mahi within 10 miles of the inlet. The majority of these fish have been falling for live menhaden either fished on the surface or on the bottom.

This summer has been great fishing so far. Give me a call to book your Emerald Isle Fishing Charter or Swansboro Fishing Charters!!

April 2018 Report

With the warming temperatures the fish are chewing in the inshore and nearshore waters around Emerald Isle and Swansboro!

Sight fishing for Redfish continues to be excellent here in the back waters of Swansboro and Emerald Isle! We have been catching Hatteras (Chopper) Bluefish as well while fishing for Red Drum and Speckled Trout.

The annual spring migration of the Atlantic Bonito has started, these delicious fish will only be here for another week or two!  These fish can be caught sight casting to schools of breaking fish as well as trolling for them.

We have also been fishing the Neuse River some, it is possible to catch anything there from Stripers, Flounder, Redfish, Large Mouth Bass, Speckled Trout and more!!

The Cobia should be showing up any day now with the water temperatures warming up  and right behind them should be Amberjack, Spanish Mackerel, more Flounder, Sheepshead and too many more species to name.

Spring 2018 Report

With the warming temperatures the fish are chewing in the inshore waters around Emerald Isle and Swansboro!

Sight fishing for Redfish remains incredible! There are schools of 25 to 500 fish cruising the flats behind the barrier islands and in the local rivers.  These fish are biting several different types of soft plastic baits and are taking an interest in topwater baits most days as well.  When the Redfish are picky live mud minnows and cut mullet has been getting the job done. This is some of our best Red Drum fishing of the year and you don't want to miss out on this great fishery!

The Speckled Trout are moving out of the local creeks and are making there way back into the rivers and sounds. Zoom and Gulp jerk baits and suspending Mirrolures have been the top producing baits for the Speckled Trout.  A few Flounder have been mixed in with the Speckled Trout as well and they will eat the same baits as the Speckled Trout.

We have also been fishing the Neuse River some, it is possible to catch anything there from Stripers, Flounder, Redfish, Large Mouth Bass, Speckled Trout and more!!

Hatteras (Chopper) Bluefish should be starting to show up any day and we usually catch some of these fish while fishing for Red Drum and Speckled Trout.

The Cobia should be showing up in about a month with the water warming up  and right behind them should be Amberjack, Spanish Mackerel, more Flounder, Sheepshead and too many more species to name.
